Abstract:
This product consists of a Powerpoint presentation that should be presented to a large group split up into teams. The teams will compete to answer the most questions correctly and gain the highest score.
Educational objectives:
Upon completion learner will be able to describe and apply evaluation and management information to:
- Urinary incontinence/catheter avoidance
- Delirium
- Avoidance of Medication and hospitalization iatrogenic complications
- Avoidance and treatment of Pressure ulcers
- Avoidance of physical restraints
- Best choices of post hospital venues of care
Additional information/Special implementation requirements or guidelines:
The learners should be told in advance to bring all the resources they would need to answer clinical questions (books, Internet access devices (laptops, blackberries, I Phones etc.), PDAs etc.). It is best to use a room that has Internet access for all learners.
The process recommended is to divide the learners into teams of 4-6. The teams are instructed to arrive at the single best answer from the multiple-choice questions presented. Each question has ≤ 2 min to answer. After the right answer is given, one of the presenters gives a short explanation about the right and wrong answers. It is best if the presenter has a colleague to assist in advising the student teams by answering some of the questions that the students might have.
Both presenters should roam the room, to help the individual teams process the information. It is recommended to have an additional person to record the answers to keep track of each teams points. The team with the most points correct at the end should win some type of award.
