Very nice introduction to the different subtypes of dementia although not quite enough for learner to be able to initiate an evaluation to differentiate between the different types in a clinical setting. Excellent guidelines/caveats to the MMSE--ones that are not easily found elsewhere. To truly appreciate these suggestions, however, one would have to already be thoroughly familiar with the MMSE--this is not the ideal tool for initially learning or teaching it.
Approximately 30% of this powerpoint is devoted to pharmacological treatment of dementia.
Provides a thorough definition of dementia with a concise yet vivid clinical description of the most significant subtypes. More for recognition or review; designed to expand learner knowledge about the differential diagnosis beyond the label of dementia, but does not teach skills to diagnose or tease apart these subtypes.
Though it addresses pharmacological management of dementia, it does not address non-pharmacologic management - but has a nice couple of slides on risks involved with use of anti-psychotics.
Probably best for learners with some familiarity with diagnosing dementia as a discussion of specific sub-types.
