Abstract: 
During the symposium, students receive an orientation to the geriatrics/gerontology curriculum, obtain curriculum materials, receive instruction in the area of communication, and practice interviewing skills prior to being assigned a mentor on aging. Educational objectives: 
1. To introduce students to the geriatrics/gerontology curriculum. 2. To recognize the inaccuracies and effects of ageist stereotypes. 3. To learn what a life history is and how to effectively obtain one. 4. To enhance communication knowledge and skills. Learners should be able to: 1. Discuss the inaccuracies and effects of against stereotypes. 2. Know how to conduct an effective life history. 3. Increase their communication knowledge and skills vis a vis older adults.
