Abstract:
This video is to instruct 2nd through 4th year medical students on how to perform a thorough neurological examination specifically for an older adult experiencing memory loss. It stresses examination technique, so that the student may perform the exam in a real clinical setting with authority and confidence. Each examining technique is photographed clearly using a simulated patient to provide a hands-on practical application.
Educational objectives:
1. Conduct a comprehensive and complete neurological exam 2. Identify an abnormality in the nervous system as it relates to memory. 3. Recognize symptoms which suggest neurologic dysfunction. 4. Describe the anatomic and physiologic basis of the neurological examination as it relates to memory loss.
